FEED NOVA SCOTIA
HOW TO HELP
HOST A FOOD/FUND DRIVE

FEED NOVA SCOTIA relies heavily on the support of its community. One way in which the community helps is by organizing food and fund drives. If you would you like to hold a food drive but you’re not quite sure where to start; here are a few suggestions that might work for you:

  • Casual days at work – dress down and donate to Feed Nova Scotia
  • Chili cook off – think yours is the best! Have a competition with your neighbours and friends
  • Yard sale – you never know, you could be sitting on a virtual gold mine of paraphernalia that you think is worthless. Ask your neighbours to join you and make it a street or community venture
  • Company food drive – have you just been made the fundraising champion for your organization! Show them you take your role seriously and start a company wide food drive to Feed Nova Scotia
  • 50/50 draw – easy to implement and usually meets with a good response from those you approach.
  • Birthday party – do you know a special someone who is having a birthday? Invite all your friends and acquaintances and ask them to bring a food donation in lieu of a gift
  • Door – to – door – A great community group idea. Remember to call Feed Nova Scotia for your authorization letter before starting out
  • Raffle - a great way to raise funds for Feed Nova Scotia.
  • Campus food drives – Are you attending university in the province of Nova Scotia and want to give back to the community you are residing in? Talk to your fellow students, they probably want to get involved too
  • Murder mystery – Want to have a party and raise funds at the same time! Everyone likes a good mystery. Get your creative juices going and invite your friends and neighbours to join you. Make it an apartment complex or community fundraiser. Some scripts are free if used for a fundraising event
  • Show a movie – Certain theatres allow the public to rent their space for fundraisers when not in use.
